Report from PEC Subcommittee epi Students & EQE Candidates
M. Mackett (GB), Chair of the epi Students & EQE Candidates Subcommittee, Professional Education Committee
By the time this article is published, we will have had EQE 2025 with the penultimate set of Papers A, B, C & D and the first sitting for Paper F.
As usual, there were epi online workshops for each of the main papers, Papers A, B, C & D, to help candidates prepare for these exams; it is our intention to run these online workshops again in June and in the autumn in preparation for the EQE 2026. EQE 2026 will be the last chance for candidates to sit the main papers of the EQE in the current format and depending on how candidates fare at EQE 2026, the transitional provisions may come into effect.
Alongside the workshops, there were epi tutorials providing one-to-one tutoring for the main papers selected by candidates.
For the epi students, there was use of the epi student forum and the change in format for the ‘Tutor Consultation Hour’ proved to be popular. Instead of focussing entirely on the exam papers, each week saw a different topic addressed where the allocated epi tutor gave a short presentation and then fielded questions from the attending students. There were five sessions allocated to the exam papers for EQE 2025, one for each of Papers F, A, B, C & D.
Paper F has not been forgotten – epi tutors prepared and tested a first example Paper F (known as Paper F I) which was published on the epi-learning platform and was available to anyone who was registered to try the example paper. Subsequently, second and third example Papers F (known as Paper F II and Paper F III respectively) were prepared and used for discussion sessions.
epi tutors are also working on example papers for new Paper M1 after the publication of the official mock Paper M1 by the Examination Board; these example papers will be available for tutorials before the introduction of new Papers M1 and M2 in 2026. M2 in 2026 will be the same as D1 but the new style Paper M2 will be set in the EQE 2027 along with new Papers M3 and M4.
Following the inaugural epi student summit in Prague in November, the next epi student summit is to be held at the end of June in Munich. For EQE candidates who are not yet epi Students, join to see what you are missing out on!
My thanks goes to all epi tutors who have participated epi online workshops, the ‘Tutor Consultation Hour’ and also to those who have participated in the preparation of the example Papers F and in their testing as none of this can be provided without the assistance of the epi tutors.
