Get Exam-Ready: EPAC Preparation Course Starting This August
Are you preparing for the EPAC exam on 9 October 2025? A dedicated Examination Preparation Course is now open
for registration, offering a structured five-week training programme for paralegals, formalities officers, and patent
administrators.
This course is tailored for professionals with intermediate knowledge of European and international patent procedures
who are actively preparing for the exam. Participants progress through five weekly modules focused on core exam topics.
What the Course Covers:
- Common Provisions, Fees, and Remedies – Gain clarity on general legal principles, procedural time limits, available legal remedies, and fee-related requirements.
- Filing – Understand how to file European patent applications correctly, manage priority claims, and navigate formalities and procedural deadlines.
- Search, Examination, and Grant – Learn how the EPO processes applications, including the search report, examination stages, communications, and grant procedure.
- European Patents after Grant, Opposition and Appeal, UPC Opt-outs – Explore the legal life after grant: opposition timelines, appeals, and how UPC opt-outs affect procedural strategies.
- PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) – Get a solid overview of the PCT system, its timeline, and how it integrates with the European phase.
Participants benefit from practical examples, exam-style exercises, and expert guidance—finishing the course two weeks before the exam to allow time for final revision. The course will be held on the epi platform. In addition to the live session the candidates will access many questions on the different topics prepared by the tutors and will also have access to a forum for discussing with the tutors. The forum will be opened at the beginning of the course and will remain open until the day of the exam for last minutes doubts and revision.
This intensive course is ideal for those already working with patent procedures and possessing at least an intermediate grasp of the relevant topics. Course delivery includes practical examples, tips on tackling questions, and hands-on exercises that mirror the real exam setting.
